David just froze in his seat--he never knew what to do in these kinds of situations. He always felt so awkward--should he reassure her and tell her that he loved her? Should he get up and go hold her? Should he tell her he was sorry? But sorry for what? He had been sitting alone, minding his own business while she had been reading a magazine. And now she throws this out at him. Was this fair? What did he do to deserve this constant interrogation?
