While I was trying to catch my breath, Timmy was busy searching through the shelves for his "snack." I watched with awe as he set his purchase down on the counter--a bag of Cheetos, a Hostess Cherry Pie, a twin-pack of Yodels, a bottle of Coke, and a pack of Wrigley's gum (for the ride back). My jaw dropped even further as Mr. Perry commented that Timmy was "eating light" today. I was kind of hungry myself after all the exertion of trying to remember which house was which and what corner of the porch people liked their newspaper thrown in, but since I had spent my entire savings of seventeen dollars and thirty cents and was already in debt to my parents for the other two dollars and seventy cents it had cost me to buy the paper route, I was flat broke, so I just stood there with my mouth watering and hungrily watched Timmy devour the entire dollar and sixty-seven cents worth of junk food in less than two minutes. Finally, when he was almost finished with the Cheetos, he must have noticed me drooling, because he handed me the bag, which contained three lonely cheese puffs in the bottom, and generously allowed me to finish them for him.
